Demonstrations
Since the Russian invasion we have been regularly organizing demonstrations/events to support Ukraine every month.
On February 24, 2022 two Ukrainian women stood at Grote Markt with their families and in a couple of days Nijmegen4Ukraine already held its first large demonstration with hundreds of people present. In March 2022 we held daily demonstrations downtown Nijmegen and then weekly demonstrations were organized until May 2022. Since then, we lead monthly demonstrations choosing important dates for Ukrainians, e.g. Independence Day, Constitution Day, Day of the Defenders, Day of Dignity and Freedom and the anniversary of Russian invasion.
During the demonstrations we talk about Russian crimes, tell stories about Ukrainian heroes, explain the background for this war so that everyone understands Russian imperialistic attacks throughout the history of Ukraine. We also emphasize the need for just punishment for the Russian war crimes committed in Ukraine and other countries.
Join us to show solidarity with Ukrainian struggle for freedom in Europe and help us bring Ukrainian victory closer!

Cultural Events
We realize the need to showcase Ukrainian culture in the Netherlands as many people are not aware of the rich cultural heritage of Ukraine. For this, we team up with local musicians and dance collectives, as well as professional Ukrainian artists and creators in order to organize diverse cultural programmes in Nijmegen.
Ukrainian cultural events in Nijmegen have proven to attract large audience from Nijmegen and surroundings, and most recently from other Dutch cities and the neigboring Germany.
We have successfully organized many workshops on traditional Ukrainian crafts (e.g. Easter egg painting, Petrykivka painting, embroidery, jewellery making from beads), concerts for Ukrainian amateur and professional choirs, classical music concerts, modern dance and ballet performances, photo and art exhibitions.
We are particular proud to have initiated the largest Ukrainian Festival in the Netherlands – “Discover Ukraine”. It was organized twice and included 3 weeks of diverse activities showcasing various aspects of Ukrainian culture. The festival established our cooperation with Stevenskerk, the central Church in Nijmegen which now hosts many other activities in support of Ukraine. We are extremely grateful for this cooperation and support!
Our activities were also held at Stadsschouwburg Nijmegen, Gorcumsmuseum, Vrijheidsmuseum, Canadian Military Cemetery in Groesbeek, Suzanne Biederberg Gallery. We are open to cooperation with other organisations supporting Ukraine!

Discussions and movie screenings
Nijmegen4Ukraine invites experts and known speakers to discuss various aspects of the ongoing Russian war in Ukraine, Ukrainian history and culture, also within the European context. Such discussions were held at Radboud University, Marienburg library in Nijmegen and Stevenskerk. The Mayor of Nijmegen, representatives from Ukrainian Embassy, the Presidents and researchers from Radboud university, the former director of Vrijheid museum, the former Minister of Defence of the Netherlands, Ukrainian and Dutch artists as well as Ukrainian professors and defenders spoke at our events.
Usually such discussions are complemented by screenings of documentaries on relevant topics. Additionally, within our successful cooperation with Lux Nijmegen we showed documentary and feature films about Ukraine, Ukrainians living in the Netherlands and the downing of the tragic MH17 flight by Russia.
